Migrations Part 25: Jeremiah Carrier's Family

JEREMIAH CARRIER Jr. was born in CT in 1751, son of JEREMIAH CARRIER and ELIZABETH ROBBINS. JEREMIAH Jr. emigrated to Steuben, Oneida Co., NY. He died at age 86 in 1837. He married 1) on 23 March 1788 SARAH BALL, born 1765, daughter of NOAH BALL and ANN GRANGER of Northampton MA.

SARAH BALL died in 1814. (VIR: Northampton MA) He married 2) HANNAH (HAYDEN) DODD (1761-1853) In 1814 both JEREMIAH and son JERE CARRIER were land owners in Oneida County. By an Act of Congress: "That HANNAH CARRIER, of the county of Oneida, and State of New York, widow of JEREMIAH CARRIER, and former widow of GUY DODD, a soldier of the Revolution, be placed upon the pension roll for five years, commencing on the fourth day of March, eighteen hundred and thirty-six, at the rate of sixty-four dollars and eighty-six cents per annum: Provided, That in the event of the marriage of said widow, said annuity or pension shall be discontinued. Approved, August 29th 1842."

Children of JEREMIAH CARRIER and SARAH BALL:

1)JERRE CARRIER was born in W. Springfield MA in 1789. Studied medicine and located early in Alexandria Bay where he practiced for several years. He served in the War of 1812 and then located in Cape. Vincent, as a collector of Customs. He died in Detroit MI on a visit in 1878 at 88 years 11 mos; buried at Cape Vincent. He married ABBY A. POTTER, born 1789, daughter of AUGUSTUS and ACHSAH POTTER, of Floyd, Oneida Co. ABBY died in 1877 at Cape Vincent at 87 years 7 mos. 18 days.

- d)AUGUSTUS CARRIER (1818 - 1903)married FANNY M. AINSWORTH, daughter of WILLARD and SALLY (GREEN)AINSWORTH.

  - 2) MARY E. CARRIER
  - 3) BYRON A. CARRIER

2) SEYMOUR J. CARRIER was born 1 Aug 1799 at Steuben, Oneida Co., NY and died 25 Aug 1873 at Floyd, Oneida Co., NY age 74. He married on 1 Nov. 1829 to EMMALINE PATIENCE FOX, born 1809 at Holland Patent, Oneida Co., NY. She died 21 Dec 1874 at Floyd, Oneida Co., NY at 66 years. Both are buried in the Floyd Cemetery.
