On 28 September 1861, RICHARD E. HUNGERFORD, MARCUS HUNGERFORD, MARY S. ELY, FRANCES E. HUNGERFORD and ORVILLE HUNGERFORD, all of Watertown, Jeff. Co., and MARTHA P. COVERT, wife of ISAAC COVERT of the city of New York, petitioned to open probate.

Betsey left no husband surviving.
Betsey named her son, MARCUS HUNGERFORD; her son ORVILLE HUNGERFORD. She named her daughters: MARY S. ELY, FRANCES E. HUNGERFORD, MARTHA P. COUVERT, wife of ISAAC COURVERT. Named her son, RICHARD E. HUNGERFORD. Named SARAH E. HUNGERFORD, wife of MARCUS HUNGERFORD. She named EMMA E. HUNGERFORD, wife of her son, ORVILLE HUNGERFORD. Named GRACE C. HUNGERFORD, the child of the said Orville. She appointed her son, RICHARD E. HUNGERFORD, as executor.
