David Nichols Will



In the matter of the estate of David Nichols of Lawrence, Douglas Co., Kansas:
This will was admitted to Jefferson Co. Probate Court and because he owned real estate, presumably, in Jefferson County, a facsimile of the will was entered therein.

Will of David Nichols

Item 1: his desire that lands and property be sold and money left after paying expenses, was to be disposed of as follows:
Item 2: Executors erect at his grave a proper stone
Item 3: To Mrs. Helen Phillips, wife of P. P. Phillips of Lawrence, Kansas
Item 4: To Mrs. Amelia Grissa, wife of A. G. Grissa of Douglas Co., Kansas
Item 5: To the Rector Wardens and Vestry of Trinity Church in Lawrence, Kansas
Item 6: To the Executive Missionary Committee of the Diocese of the State of Kansas
Item 7: To the board of Missions of the Protestant Episcopal Church of the United States of America to be used by the Home Missions of the Colored people of the United States and to the Foreign Missionary Society of the Protestant Episcopal Church of the United States for the use of the Society.

The remainder of property to be divided equally between the said two societies but no money to be paid to either of them until the whole amount shall have been paid as devised in the aforesaid items.

Item 8: Nominate and appoint Samuel Nichols of Marshall Oneida Co., NY as Executor upon my property I may own or have in the State of Kansas and do hereby authorize them to sell my property at public or private sale and made deeds therefor and deliver deeds to the purchasers thereof in fee simple.

Item 9: I desire that my clothing and household goods that I may have at my death be given to the person at whose house I may die to be disposed of as they may choose
