On 31 January 1846, SARAH MORTIMER, widow of the deceased, petitioned to open probate and had appointed her executrix of the will.

JOHN MORTIMER made his will on 8 July 1844, and named his wife, SARAH MORTIMER, as sole beneficiary and executrix. /s/ John Mortimer
Witnesses: C. L. BRAINARD of Watertown and LEE ELY of Watertown and GEORGE S. GOODALL of Watertown.
Will proved: 31 January 1846.
